Software Developer

The position starts as software developer and focuses on backend and some frontend development. You do need to wear different hats at different times, and even multiple hats at the same time. As it goes with startups, the sky is the limit. The good thing about it is that you can take on as much responsibility and learn as much as you want in a small team environment be it system admin, DBA, web frontend, server backend, and everything in between. As our service and application are taking shape not only in the browser platform but in the mobile computing arena as well, it’ll be an awesome opportunity to gain exposure on this new frontier.

What you’ll need to succeed:

We are looking for highly motivated and resourceful software developers who can work well both in teams and independently. You need to be self-starter, move and learn fast, multi-task, work with tight deadlines yet with discipline (no, we don’t want spaghetti codes). You will need to be well-versed in object oriented design.

Along the way new technology will be introduced but you would need to be comfortable coding in Java that is the core of the backend. Fundamental database design and concepts are highly desirable, so are basic frontend skills in Javascript and css. You would need to have basic understanding of networking as well.

Have we mentioned that we love mobile computing skills too? iPhone, Android, anyone?

Requirements

• Must have a smartphone and be addicted to apps
• Must read HackerNews; TechCrunch or Mashable are a plus
• Must know the difference between NFC and Square
• Must have bought a physical product from a smartphone (not a digital download like a ringtone, in app purchase, song from iTunes, or a Kindle e-book)
• Must be intellectually curious

Non-Technical Intern

The ideal candidate possesses that unique blend of business and technical savvy. You have big-picture vision and drive to make that vision a reality. You must enjoy figuring things out and not taking “no” for an answer. You balance strategic thinking with outstanding execution. You love solving complex business problems and getting your hands dirty and enjoy the thrill of a fast-paced environment redefining an entire industry.

The position is located at the CTech InCUbator at the University of Bridgeport at 250 Myrtle Ave., Bridgeport.

Responsibilities

• Product management and enhancement including product specifications, goals, use cases and requirements
• Partner with UX to execute customer research, wireframes & prototypes, and usability testing
• Strategy: product, general, marketing, etc. You name it. We’ve got it.
• Sales support including preparation of PowerPoint decks for sales pitches
• Execution of advertising and other customer acquisition tactics
• Campaign management, analysis, and reporting
• Stuff we haven’t thought of

What you’ll need to succeed
